Bio:

Decai Sun received his Ph.D in Engineering Physics and Material Sciences from University of Virginia in 1994. After graduation, he worked in the world renowned Xerox PARC on semiconductor lasers and MEMS development as a member of the technical staff until 2000. He then joined a startup called Bandwidth9 to develop tunable long wavelength VCSELs for telecommunications. In 2003, he joined Philips Lumileds to develop high power LEDs for illumination. He is currently a senior manager and principle investigator for a few high power white LED programs funded by United States Department of Energy (DOE). He holds over 50 patents in semiconductor lasers, MEMS and power LEDs and has published about 30 journal papers and a book chapter.
